Admin and internal tools

This is the most crowded category in the directory, because every Rails app needs admin screens and the framework has never shipped them. The hosted answers charge per seat for CRUD over a database you already own, and need a network path into production to do it.

The trade-off between the engines here is generated-and-editable against configured-and-compact. Administrate and RailsAdmin generate into your repository; Madmin and Avo keep more inside the gem. Whichever you pick, gate the mount.
